The Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Acroideation International Limited (ACRO) towards the actualisation of the Abia International Industrial City (ABIIC) project for Micro, Small and medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in the promotion of appropriate business capacity enhancement activities. One of the cardinal objectives of this collaboration according to the Director General of the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria SMEDAN Alhaji Bature Umar Masari was to provide a conducive durable and enabling environment for Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) as well as assisting them enhance and harness their creative potential in manufacturing, branding and marketing of their products both locally and internationally.
SMEDAN he said would also assist ACRO in disseminating information about the Aba international Industrial City, ‘we would also facilitate the participation from Micro Small and medium Entrepreneurs MSMEs and or off takers nationwide under its umbrella.
Alhaji Masari also revealed that SMEDAN would also be responsible for entrepreneurship training, provision of business counselling, mentoring follow up, facilitation of bankable plans, advocacy and advisory services, as well as technical assistance for the development and management of ABIIC project and participating MSMEs.
Alh. Masari commended the initiative of the company for their interest in the promotion of MSMEs business environment. The Director General said the workability of the project would in no small measure contribute to the development of MSMEs which is the major focus of SMEDAN as an Agency.
The Director General added that projects like this is expected to be replicated across the country as the Agency is also concerned on effective development of clusters to boost MSMEs for wealth generation and sustainable development.
Earlier the President of Acroideation International Limited, Prince Uzoma Ohaja who led the delegation to the signing ceremony noted that ACRO is the promoter and developer of an Industrial park which is located at Osisioma Ngwa in Abia state, the park he said is to be known and called Aba International Industrial City.
He said the project shall comprise 68,000 industrial shops, 200 warehouses, shopping Malls, Hotels, 200 Housing units of residential estate and other requisite facilities plus state of the art infrastructures.
Prince Ohaja noted that the need to collaborate with SMEDAN on this very important project cannot be over emphasised adding as the major agency promoting the development of MSMEs in Nigeria his outfit believes that with this collaboration jobs and wealth would be created not only in Abia state but the country as a whole.
