The Director General of Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria, SMEDAN, Alhaji Dr. Dikko Umaru Radda has appealed to all the staff of the Agency to join him in repositioning the Agency so as to achieve its core mandate of developing and promoting MSMEs in Nigeria. He made this remark while addressing Zonal Coordinators, State Coordinators and Managers at the Corporate Headquarters of the Agency in Abuja on Thursday.
Dr. Radda stated that the essence of the meeting was to interface and carry them along in the activities of the Agency. He briefed the Coordinators and Managers on the outcome of the management retreat held in Kaduna last month and explained to them that far reaching measures that would move the Agency forward were reached in Kaduna
The Director General stated that the Agency has a lot of programmes, but the need to reorganize and come up with something that will make its impact felt among MSMEs in Nigeria is being considered. He called on them to join hands with him by contributing their best to see to the actualization of the mandate of the Agency. Dr. Radda said as ambassadors of the Agency they should be in a position to shed lights on the repositioning of the Agency.
Dr. Radda also reiterated the need for the Coordinators and Managers to carry their staff along if they want to succeed as they are the field officers; he added that he would look into their various complaints and provide an enabling environment for them to work. He said “from the briefings I got on assumption of office I now realized how bad the condition of the Agency is. I am aware of the situation at the zonal and state levels, in fact, in some states, staff do not have offices, but am assuring you all here of my willingness to assist and solve their challenges”.
He also stated the need for team work to bring forth the activities of the Agency to the general public in order to achieve the mandate of the Agency. He urged the staff to be responsible in handling their responsibilities and to forward any suggestions and ideas that will move the Agency to a higher level. He briefed them on how the suggestions and ideas of some of the state Coordinators were considered at the retreat
