ACCREDITATION/ CERTIFICATION EXERCISE FOR BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT SERVICE PROVIDERS (BDSPs) IN NIGERIA.

As part of its statutory mandate of coordinating MSME activities in the country, the Small and Medium Enterprise Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN) intends to Accredit/ Certify Business Development Service Providers in Nigeria.

This is part of its effort to create a robust and credible Enterprise Development Service (EDS) ecosystem in Nigeria especially in line with the National Enterprise Development Programme (NEDEP) objectives and in consonance with the decision of the National Council on Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises.

 

Consequently, BDSPs involved in the following areas are expected to apply:

  1. Need-based Mentoring/ Counseling/ Coaching services for MSMEs.
  2. Development/ preparation of feasible and fundable business plans.
  3. Facilitation of access of assigned beneficiaries to conducive and affordable workspace within the locality.
  4. Facilitation of the procurement of relevant equipment/ machinery.
  5. Provision of Entrepreneurship Training and Post Training Business Development Services.
  6. Facilitation of MSMEs participation in Trade Fairs
  7. Facilitation of access of MSMEs to Markets and Funding.

 

Requirements

  1. Incorporation with Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) as a consulting/business development service firm

 

 

  1. Views on MSME sector – all applicants must demonstrate a good understanding of the MSME sector.

 

  1. Evidence of Small Business ‘Train The Trainers’ and counselling skills already acquired at a reputable institution.

 

  1. Evidence of promotion or encouragement of MSME activity in a particular/specific area of Nigeria, with special reference to encouraging the formation and development of Small Businesses.

 

  1. Ownership and faculty details including evidence of international affiliations, if any.

 

  1. Evidence of BDS related activities undertaken in the past.
