The Director General (SMEDAN), Dr Dikko Umaru Radda has called on International Development Agencies to Assist the Agency in building capacity for the members of staff in business development service and policy implementation. He made this call while receiving the Chief Representative (JICA) Japan International Cooperation Agency Mr Hirotaka Nakamura and his team in Abuja on Thursday. He said the role of JICA in development of MSMEs in Nigeria is well appreciated and called on the Japanese Government to assist Nigeria achieve its dream.
The government of Muhammadu Buhari is a serious Government that is committed to improving lots of people. He said JICA has keyed into the MSME sector in Nigeria, he said the MSME sector in all encompassing as a deals with Technology, Agriculture, and Mining and urged them to choose any sector they may want to assist.
Earlier the chief representative of JICA in Nigeria Mr. Hirotaka Nakamura Congratulated the DG on his appointment and briefed him on the collaborative activity between Nigeria and JICA. He said JICA was setup to contribute to the promotion of international cooperation as well as the sound development of Japanese and global economy by supporting the socio economics development recovery or economic stability of developing regions. Mr. Nakamura noted that JICA has contributed to Nigeria’s infrastructure, Agriculture sector, Health and other social sector such as education and water.
He also stated SMEDAN, has benefited from it capacity building programmes through sponsorship of the Agency’s staff to various programme in Japan
