The Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding MoU with the Government of Osun State to utilize part of the Oshogbo Industrial Development Centre (IDC) for the provision of infrastructure and institutional support to Micro and Small medium enterprises (MSMEs) in the state.
The Director General of SMEDAN, Alhaji Bature Umar Masari and the Governor of Osun state, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola signed the MoU at the Government House Oshogbo.
The Director General of SMEDAN Alhaji Bature Umar Masari explained that the collaboration between his agency and the Government of Osun State was aimed at boosting community development, rural industrialization, poverty reduction, job creation and enhance sustainable livelihood.
He also said that the strategy was to utilize designated portion of the Industrial Development Center in Oshogbo for the benefits of the people of the state.
Masari commended the efforts of the Osun State Government in collaborating with SMEDAN in making life meaningful for the people of the state.
While thanking the government of Osun state for providing an office accommodation for the Agency, the Director General of SMEDAN said his agency was fully equipped to promote and develop the sector.
Earlier, the Osun state Governor, Rauf Aregbesola thanked the management of SMEDAN for partnering with the state government.
He said following the discovery of the huge potentials available in the state ``we felt that we must make good use of the facilities so as to support the teeming people of my state. ’’ Aregbesola commended the new leadership in SMEDAN for the initiative in accelerating and promoting MSMEs towards uplifting the economy of not only Osun State but the nation as a whole.
The Director General later visited the Industrial Development Centre in Oshogbo and was conducted round by the Coordinator Mr. M. A. Adedeji.
After the tour of the centre, the Director General urged the staff to rededicate themselves towards improving service delivery. He said SMEDAN was undergoing restructuring aimed at impacting on the well being of Nigerians. He assured them that he was ready to improve on their welfare and urged them to be committed and disciplined in the discharge of their duties.
