Director-General/Chief Executive Officer of Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria, SMEDAN, Alhaji Bature Umar Masari, has been decorated with the Most Active Director General Award 2013 by the National Development Forum. National Development Forum, Publishers of African Development Magazine held its Annual Award of Excellence in Development at the Ibeto Hotels and Resort, Gudu Abuja. The Director General was eulogized for his steadfastness, commitment and passion for the development and promotion of the Micro Small and Medium Enterprises in Nigeria. Masari was lauded for driving the implemention of the National Enterprise Development Programme (NEDEP), a programme aimed at generating an estimated 3.0 Million to 5.0 Million direct and indirect jobs between 2013 and 2015.
The Director General of the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency, (SMEDAN), Alhaji Bature Umar Masari, has urged students in Nigerian universities to endeavour to set up entrepreneurship clubs in their respective university so as to imbibe the spirit of entrepreneurship while they are still in the school environment. Alhaji Bature stated this when he hosted students from the Economics Department of the Adamawa State University, Mubi, Adamawa State, who were on an excursion visit to the Agency’s head office in Abuja.

Alhaji Masari welcomed the banks policy of non interest banking adding that non-interest banking stimulates the growth of MSMEs.
